Mr Krishna Bhagwat graduated medical school from the University of Mumbai in 1996, he obtained his Master of General Surgery in 2000 from Mumbai and later obtained his full qualification in Cardiothoracic surgery at University of Pune, India in 2003.
Acquiring many years of experience as a Consultant of Cardiothoracic surgery in India, he pursued further training in Australia where he was awarded his Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in 2016.
His clinical rotations during training included, Royal Melbourne Hospital (Adult), Royal Children’s Hospital (Paediatric), Alfred Hospital (Heart & Lung Transplant Surgery) and with Monash Hospital. He then went on to provide his specialised skills at the Dunedin Hospital New Zealand, Barwon Health Geelong and Royal Hobart Hospital.
Mr Bhagwat is currently appointed as a consultant Cardiothoracic surgeon at Northern Health and St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne.
Mr Bhagwat’s highly sought-after skills include expertise in general cardiac surgery, total arterial revascularization, minimally-invasive valve repair and replacement surgery. His areas of passion and specialty includes minimal invasive thoracic and cardiac surgery, including thoracic oncology via uniportal approach. Krishna is devoted to providing personalised care for all of his patients in order to achieve comfort and early recovery.
He has multiple journal publications in heart and lung surgery. He is also an active member of the Academy of Surgical Educators with Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, with an interest in surgical training. He is a college-appointed Supervisor of SET (Surgical Education and Training) in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
As a consultant cardiothoracic surgeon, Mr Bhagwat remains clinically active in general adult cardiac and thoracic surgery in both public and private practice.
